FAQ - JK WesternUpdated a month ago

This FAQ provides information about handmade Western-style boots from JK Western, covering details on sizing, craftsmanship, materials, and return policies.

  • How do I order in the right size?
    • JK Western boots fit true to size, so you can order in the size you most commonly find in your closet.
  • If I find myself between two sizes, which should I select?
    • We recommend that your boots have a snug and comfortable fit. If you are between two sizes, order the smaller. The leather will break in over time and mold to your feet.
  • How will I know if my boots fit correctly?
    • A good-fitting boot will make a satisfying plop sound when slipping your heel into place. Additionally, you want a snug and comfy feel around your feet. If your boots are uncomfortably tight, head over to our returns portal to process an exchange for a better size!
    • It's important to mention that experiencing some heel lift when wearing the boots for the first time is perfectly normal.
  • I own a pair of JK work boots. Should I order JK Westerns in the same size as my JK workboots?
    • No! JK work boots are built on our unique 3708 last and are sized accordingly. However, JK Western boot sizing is based on the standard men's US Brannock. As mentioned above, you should order JK Westerns in the same size you find most common in your closet.
  • Why was JK Western started?
    • JK Western boots are the result of you, our customer. We do our best to listen to our customers' needs and innovate new products and services based on your wants. We listened to many voices asking about cowboy boots, hats, gear, and apparel. Thus, JK Western was born.
  • Where are JK Western boots made?
    • JK Western boots are designed and developed in the Pacific Northwest at our Spokane, WA headquarters and then built by a team of master craftsmen in Leon, Mexico. We will soon add more products, including a line made in the USA. JK Western boots are the perfect marriage of master craftsmanship and creativity. We've incorporated the same spirit of excellence that has driven JK workboots to be the best hand-made workboots in the world. This blend of ingredients is not about where they are made but how they are made with precision, care, and the best materials available.
  • How are JK Wetern boots made?
    • JK Wetern boots are made by hand from start to finish and are specimens of artisanal quality. The uppers are made of the highest-quality steer leather, tanned to a low temper for a soft, buttery feel that requires no break-in period.
    • Each pair of boots is lined with tender calfskin to elevate the already exceptional comfort each pair provides.
    • The boots are hand-corded between the uppers and the lining and stitched with our custom-designed embroidery.
    • Our boots are made from sustainable materials! The vamp's leather, lined with an environmentally friendly rice husk toe box nestled between a calf skin liner, is expertly stretched to form over the last. The heel counter, made from full veg-tanned leather coated in rice husk, echoes our commitment to sustainability.
    • Our boots are constructed with a channeled veg-tanned leather insole on a Goodyear welt, a departure from the commonly used synthetic ribbing with cork fillers. This allows JK Western boots to be resoled, increasing their lifetime.
    • The leather or rubber outsole is stitched through and hand-bottomed using lemonwood pegs. Finally, our boots come with a full leather heel stack with a TPU rubber cap.
  • Are JK Western boots comfortable to wear?
    • Inside the boots, you'll find a cushioned PU insole atop a fully lined veg-tanned insole. This, combined with the plush and luxurious calfskin lining, provides a walking-on-a-cloud feel.
  • What separates JK Western from other big brands?
    • We believe we offer the best product on the market, and here are a few reasons why:
      • The entire boot's upper is comprised of the highest quality steer leather.
      • We use full-grain, veg-tanned leather insoles, midsoles, counters, and heel bases.
      • Zero synthetics are used in the uppers or internal boot construction.
      • We use a channeled leather insole construction with a Goodyear welt and no synthetic ribs or cork fillers.
      • The outsole, whether rubber or leather, is stitched through and hand-bottomed using lemonwood pegs.
      • JK Western cowboy boots must pass through 15 quality control checkpoints.
  • How do I request an exchange or return?
  • Are JK Western boots customizable?
    • We are not offering any customization options or custom sizing/lasting.
  • Can JK Western boots be rebuilt?
    • No. Due to the nature of slip-on boots and the design of the uppers, Cowboy or Western-style boots are not traditionally rebuildable.
  • Where can I buy JK Western boots?
    • You can purchase from any JK Boots retail location or order directly from our website!
  • What more should I know about JK Western boots?
    • The original founding family, John, Will, and Tim Khadzhi, designed our products. Great attention was given to every aspect of the boots to ensure that each pair resonates with their passion for all things boots. John bestowed his skill and love for boots to his sons, who proudly carry forth their heritage, reflected in each pair from JK Western.
