Need a Tighter Fit?Updated a month ago

At JK Boots, we understand that a perfect fit is essential for comfort and performance, especially for our high-quality, handmade leather boots. Whether you're experiencing a bit of looseness after your boots break in or need a more secure fit from the start, we have a few tips and tricks to help you get the snug, comfortable fit you desire.

  • Insert Insoles—Adding an insole is a great way to take up extra space inside your boots and achieve a better fit. Insoles provide additional padding for comfort and can help with a snugger fit, especially in the toe box or arch. You can find comfortable, quality neoprene inserts for sale here!
  • Leather Conditioning—Leather naturally stretches and molds to the shape of your foot over time. If your boots feel slightly loose, conditioning the leather can help speed up the break-in process. Use a leather conditioner to soften the material, allowing it to quickly conform to your feet. Be sure to apply a light, even coat and avoid over-conditioning, as it may stretch the leather too much. Please reference our Oiling Your Boots article for information regarding proper boot conditioning.
    • Oiling your boots during your initial 30-day return and exchange window will void any possibility of return or exchange. Review articles under the Returns & Exchanges category of our Help Center for full details.
  • Breaking In Your Boots—Leather work boots take time to break in and are molded to the unique shape of your feet. Wear your boots regularly; they will become more comfortable as they conform to your foot's natural contours. If a certain area of the boot feels particularly loose, wearing them for short periods and adjusting your lacing can help speed the process.

  • Thicker Socks—Wearing thicker socks can help fill in any extra space in your boots and provide an immediate tighter fit. We highly recommend Darntough Merino Wool socks, which can be purchased from our website under accessories. Merino wool helps regulate temperature and provides moisture-wicking and odor resistance. Socks made from Merino wool are the socks of choice for loggers, wildland firefighters, mechanics, construction workers, and countless others who work hard in their boots all day.
  • Rebuild Service—We offer a rebuild service that allows you to have your boots rebuilt to our standards. This service would rebuild your boots into the model you select and the size you desire. However, this is a permanent option, and it may be best to consult a JK Boots sizing specialist before proceeding. See our contact details at the bottom of our Help Center.
