SandingUpdated 18 days ago

Sanding boots is an art that requires exceptional hand dexterity and meticulous attention to detail. Our bootmakers perform this task free-handed, shaping the boot along an imaginary line to ensure all elements blend seamlessly. This process is influenced by various factors, including the type of sole, stitch lines, sizing, and the presence of safety toes. Each boot must be sanded to mirror its pair as closely as possible, a challenging feat given the precision required.

Welt Width: An important aspect of sanding is managing the welt width. A wider welt allows for multiple resolings, as each resoling involves a slight trimming of the welt. With enough resoles, a boot with a narrower welt might no longer be resolable if trimmed too extensively. Our boots are designed with a wider welt not only to enhance durability but also to support numerous resolings, extending the life of the boots significantly beyond typical expectations.

This meticulous sanding process underscores our commitment to quality and durability, ensuring that every pair of boots not only meets but exceeds the rigorous demands of their wearers. If you have any concerns or questions about our sanding process or the resole potential of your boots, please feel free to reach out to us.
